We will come to your home or office to help solve your problem. Hopefully we can help you out quickly, there and then. If a lengthy update is required, such as a full virus scan, it may be easier for us to take your PC away, with your agreement. This is to avoid you paying for all the waiting time while the update takes place. If this happens you will only be charged for the time we actually work on your device.
It may be necessary to take a backup copy of your files so that you do not lose anything if something major like a system reset is required. It is your responsibility to ensure your files are backed up. TechAsssist can help you to do this.
Will not look at any of your files, unless you ask us to work on one or more of them.

We have all deleted a file by mistake. We can try to recover lost files. However depending on the circumstances, this is not always possible and we cannot guarantee success.
Our experience is with Microsoft Windows and Linux PC operating systems. For this reason it is unlikely that we will be able to help you with any Apple computers such as iMacs or MacBooks.
Windows 10 officially reached it's end of life on the 14th of October 2025. This means that Microsoft are no longer developing new features or providing fixes for any vulnerabilities that might be found.
You can continue to use Windows 10 after this date but it will be increasingly vulnerable to malware and being hacked, even if you have an antivirus program running on your PC.
There is an option to enrol in Microsoft's Extended Security Program until October 2027 if you are eligible, but this is not typically free.
We recommend that, if your computer is compatible, you should move to Windows 11. If you have a Windows 10 licence, you do not have to pay for Windows 11. We can do this upgrade for you.
If your computer is not compatible and you still want to move to Windows 11 you will need to purchase a compatible PC, we can help you find the best device for your needs. Alternatively, you do not have to stay with Windows, see below.
If your computer is not compatible with Windows 11 and you do not want to buy a new one or you want to move away from Windows anyway, you can use a different operating system.
Linux operating systems have been around for many years and are used extensively around the world. There are lots of Linux operating system versions and many, such as Linux Mint, behave very similarly to Windows and so it is a relatively easy transition. There are Linux equivalents for most of the Windows applications you are familiar with such as Office applications, email and Web browsers.
Most Linux operating systems require much less processing power and memory than Windows does, so are good for older, lower spec computers.
A main advantage of Linux is that it is open source and is free to have and use. If you would like to move to Linux, we can do this for you.
